I independently guided the organization in making critical decisions regarding the selection of strategic IT partners, specifically focusing on hybrid cloud infrastructure and robust network infrastructure solutions.
Strategic Advisory & Collaborative Azure Landing Zone Design
One of my core responsibilities was providing strategic advice to help SIF make informed decisions about technology partnerships. I supported the organization by evaluating potential solutions and recommending partners capable of delivering hybrid cloud infrastructures tailored to specific business requirements. Additionally, I collaborated closely with the internal team on defining the Azure Landing Zone design, contributing significantly to ensuring a robust foundation for scaling, governance, and security within the Azure cloud environment.
Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Solutions with Nerdio
I personally implemented Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), orchestrated efficiently through Nerdio. This solution transformed how virtual desktops were provisioned and managed, simplifying deployment, enhancing user experiences, and optimizing cloud resource usage. Nerdio’s orchestration capabilities allowed me to streamline operations and introduce automation, significantly reducing overhead and increasing overall reliability.
Transition to Cloud-Managed Workplaces via Microsoft Intune
To further boost operational agility, I transitioned workspace management from traditional on-premises solutions to a cloud-centric model using Microsoft Intune. This strategic move allowed centralized device management, facilitated remote configurations, and ensured seamless updates, significantly enhancing both user and administrative experiences.
Governance Standards and Agile Transformation
My project emphasized establishing structured governance standards. I introduced clear naming conventions and best practices for the design and implementation phases. Additionally, I successfully integrated Microsoft DevOps as the main Agile Scrum tool, significantly improving collaboration, transparency, and operational efficiency across IT initiatives.
Spotlight Project: Intune-Managed Terminal Configuration for Rotterdam Facility
A standout achievement was my implementation of an innovative Intune-managed terminal configuration at SIF’s new production facility in Rotterdam. This project showcased efficiency, innovation, and heightened security, involving the following critical aspects:
1. Seamless Autopilot Deployment
Leveraging Microsoft’s Autopilot technology, I ensured terminals were immediately ready for operational use upon deployment, substantially reducing setup complexity and time.
2. Comprehensive Lifecycle Management
I carefully documented lifecycle management processes to provide clarity, maintainability, and scalability in device management throughout the facility’s operational lifecycle.
3. Optimized Smart Factory Integration
The terminal configurations were precisely tailored based on insights from the Smart Factory initiative, significantly enhancing production efficiency and enabling real-time operational decision-making.
4. Progressive Web Applications (PWA)
I’ve deployed Progressive Web Applications, delivering consistent, responsive experiences across devices and improving overall usability and operational continuity.
5. Advanced Security Measures
Security was a priority. I secured the terminals with Microsoft Defender and integrated comprehensive onboarding to Microsoft Sentinel for enhanced monitoring and threat detection capabilities.
Consolidation and Migration of Workloads to Azure IaaS
In parallel, I advanced SIF Group’s cloud transformation journey by consolidating and migrating workloads onto Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). I clearly delineated IT and Operational Technology (OT), placing OT workloads securely on dedicated on-premises Hyper-V clusters located in Roermond and Rotterdam.
Robust Disaster Recovery Solutions
My disaster recovery strategy utilized Azure Site Recovery (ASR) and Veeam Backup & Recovery. This comprehensive plan ensured geographical redundancy, bolstering the resilience of critical workloads by backing them up in geographically separate locations and leveraging cloud-based Azure backups for increased reliability and swift recovery.
